Hi all! Todayās post is a little different, as i rarely get the opportunity to experience a proper carā¦Never mind get to talk all about the engine, tyres etc with another proper petrolhead! šŖš¼ š¤£ Well it all started at the end ofĀ Eileenās funeral last week when we needed a lift to the train station to head back home. Ben (ex brother in law and friend) said heād give us a lift and disappeared to go and get his car?!
What is that visceral rumble outside?? š¤Ā

Ā Ā Please meet the RS4ā¦š² Ā Ā
Ben: āFirstly, the RS4 was hand built by quattro gmbh (Audiās in-house performance arm). The B7 RS4 is powered by a direct fuel injected (FSi) 4.2litre V8, producing 420bhp and revving to over 8,000rpm.
Mine is around 450bhp and revs to 8,500rpm due to some minor modifications.Ā It has the quattro all wheel drive system with a 60:40 power split with a rear bias to aid handing.Ā Front brake are floating discs with 8 piston callipers (also used on the Lamborghini Gallardo). As with all B7 RS4s, itās a 6 speed manual (has to be manual).”Ā

As Sarah was getting into the back seat she said āYouāve got to be in the front for this oneā i said āFantasticā as Ben kindly guided me around and opened the door as i got in. I said āAwww these Recaro bucket seats are amazing, and i can fit in themĀ properly now iāve lost 5 stone, lol!āĀ š¤£Ā

Sadly the train station was only about 10 minutes away, but when we reached the duel carriagewayā¦Ben wound the windows down and floored it!!Ā š²
Iām not sure if it was the instant force of being blasted back into the seat, or theĀ symphony of the 450 angry beasts filling my ears that gave me that feeling like nothing elseā¦I simply couldnāt stop the huge grin from leaving my face!Ā š
āWow that was immenseā i said whilst pealing my head off the rear window, lol.Ā āThat was only 6500rpm as we keepĀ running out of road, we have 2000rpm leftā Ben said as he gifted me with another blip of the throttle to evoke the awesomeĀ symphony!

Whenā¦š¤Ā
Ben walked me around the rear of the car on the nearside about level with the tyre. He then placed Sarah in aĀ similar position on the offside, āStay there a minute and listen to this!?!āĀ
It all happened at the same timeā¦My ears were blessed and blasted with the massive sound of the V8 from the rear, then my lower half of my trousers blew backwards from the wind (tornado) blitzing me from the tailpipesā¦And as the revs lowered we could hear the huge pops, bangs and explosions coming from the exhaust! Wow what a finish, and now we understand what you wereĀ up to, lol!Ā š¤£Ā
I canātĀ thank Ben enough for giving me and Sarah this amazingĀ experience, and Sarah was happy that i got to talk all about cars without boring her to death, lol!Ā
Oh just one more thingā¦This monster has 275mm tires and 20 inch rims! šŖš¼Ā
The Audi 4.2 V8…

As you may know my last car before i went blindā¦Was my custom 1991 Vauxhall Nova 1.4SR resprayed in dark pearlescent purple (bottom half) and white for the top half after iād fitted a full Zender body kit. . As i worked as a panel beater in a bodyshop, my fave part was hammering out the rear wheel arches, filling them for a slightly wider archā¦So i could squeeze in the 205mm tyres on the 17 inch rims. Iād only ever seen 16 inch rims on a Nova in Derbyshire before, so i had to see if i could fit the 17āsā¦Thatās why i called it theĀ āNovadoseā. š¤£ Ā Ā
Iāve always been interested in cars as most of my family are/were mechanicsā¦I think thatās why i get so excited whenever i have a carĀ experience like the one aboveā¦And why iāll always share it with you guys!Ā š
Do you have any carĀ experience stories to share?Ā š¤Ā
Hey Steve,
I was laughing as I read this post. My dear husband, Ken, is a car guy to the extreme. I joke with him that he carries a picture of his first car in his wallet, but no pictures of me.
When he asks me to describe a car, I tell him the color and whether or not it was a big car. As you can tell, I am not a car person.
Glad to read that you enjoyed your car experience. š

Hi Nancy.
Wow Ken would’ve love this experience it was such fun! š
That’s a great idea that Ken has ((but he needs a photo of you first), out of curiosity what was Ken’s first car? And what was/is his fave car that he’s owned or driven? š¤
Sorry you’ve got me onto cars again, lol! š¤£
If we walk past a car that Sarah thinks i’d like but doesn’t know what it is?? I ask her to describe the badge for me and we’ll go from there, lol! š¤£
Oh she also tells me what colour it is too…If it’s a boring colour or a nice fun one! šŖš¼

Hi Steve,
Okay, straight from the horse’s mouth so to speak. According to Ken, his first car was a 1963 Buick Special, a hand-me-down from his grandfather.
Ken’s favorite car was his VW Scirocco “S” model, 5 speed and fire engine red. This was his favorite car because it was a sports car.
Mmm, if you had asked me what my first car was, I would tell you it was small and yellow. A Ford Maverick I think?

Hi Nancy…Thanks so much for getting back to me!
Awww i love those classic shaped cars…I bet he loved that 1963 Buick Special?! I wonder if it’s still in your garage, what a classic! š I say all of this as my friend Adie’s dad always had american cars e.g Pontiac Firebird, Trans Ams etc. Since then i just love american cars! šŖš¼
Wow, yes i remember loving the VW Scirocco āSā in the 90’s when i was growing up! The man at our local fish and chip shop used to own one, and i couldn’t stop staring at it as i walked around it! š² A great sports car and i bet Ken has so many fantastic memories of driving it, especially as it was a lovely red too!
Yay..Me and Sarah love yellow cars! Most of the cars around here are very dull and have even more dull colours! š¤£
Oh, did the 1963 Buick Special have white wall tires? š¤
God bless you, Steve.

Hey Steve,
Ken said the Buick did not have white wall tires. His explanation was that “his grandfather was too cheap to pay extra for that. ” š
God bless you and Sarah.

š¤£ Sorry for the weird question…I just love those old white wall tires on those classics! I didn’t know that you needed to pay extra for the tires and just thought they came as standard?! I should’ve known you needed to pay extra, lol! š¤£
